Wifi Sync Not Working on Windows 7 64bit (Solved)

IOS5 got a new feature which is very great for iPhone users. It is now can be sync with iTunes over Wifi. It means that whenever you the iPhone connected to the same local network with PC/Mac, there will be an option to sync it over Wifi without the need to connect it with a cable.

The problem? It did not work when I turn this option on. It just greyed the Sync button on my iPhone even though I already enable it in my iTunes. Maybe because I use PC with Windows 7 and as we all know, Apple hates Microsoft :p (j/k)

If you have the same problem, follow these steps to solve it:
  1. Connect your phone with cable to your PC
  2. Open iTunes
  3. Restart your router
    Restart your PC
    Restart your iPhone
  4. Solved :)
Yes, that simple :) Somehow the Wifi sync can not be enabled on the spot thus it need a great effort from you to restart all your devices.

If those steps still not enable you to sync your device over Wifi, I found other solutions from Apple Discussion board (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3390080?start=15&tstart=0):

  1. Open "Control Panel"
  2. Select "Windows Firewall"
  3. Click "Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall"
  4. Look for "SyncServer" in the list. It won't be there.
  5. Click "Change Settings" then "Allow another program"
  6. Click "Browse..."
  7. Find "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\SyncServer.exe"
  8. Restart iTunes and your iPod/Phone/Pad should appear in iTunes. If not, try rebooting to make sure everything is reloaded properly.
Hopefully these steps will help you to get the sync over Wifi works :) Also I need to mention that for me, after able to get this feature working for a week, I disabled it.

Reason: It is too laggy and occasionally give me an error. Not too sure whether this is the router fault or Windows 7 fault or the iTunes fault, but for now I'm pretty happy to sync it over cable. Probably in the future when this technology become mature, then I will switch over.
