Resolving Black Screen on Screen Recording

When you do a screen recording, encountering a black screen while attempting to capture the video can be frustrating. Apparently, there is a quick solution to resolve this issue. By turning off the hardware acceleration setting in Google Chrome, you can overcome the black screen hurdle and streamline your screen recording. 

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Accessing the Chrome Menu:
    Open your Google Chrome browser and locate the three vertical dots positioned at the top-right corner of the window. Click on these dots to access the Chrome menu, which will provide you with various options.
  2. Navigating to Settings:
    In the Chrome menu, scroll down and locate the "Settings" option. Clicking on it will open a new tab dedicated to Chrome's settings, presenting you with an array of configuration choices.
  3. Exploring Advanced Settings:
    To unveil additional options, scroll down to the bottom of the settings page and click on the "Advanced" link. This will expand the advanced settings section, granting you access to further customization options.
  4. Disabling Hardware Acceleration:
    Within the advanced settings, seek out the "System" section. Here, you will find a toggle switch labeled "Use hardware acceleration when available." By default, this feature is enabled. To resolve the black screen issue, click on the toggle switch, disabling the hardware acceleration. Notice that the switch will change color, indicating that the feature is now turned off.
  5. Relaunching Google Chrome:
    To apply the changes, it is crucial to relaunch your Google Chrome browser. Close all instances of Chrome and reopen the browser, ensuring that the modifications take effect.
  6. Record the screen:
    Launch your screen recording software (Snagit, Camtasia, OBS, or something else similar)

Enable PHP opcache extension on Windows XAMPP

If your XAMPP comes with PHP 5.5+ by default, opcache already included in the bundle, you will just need to enable it. To enable the extension: Open php.ini (by default it should be located here: C:\xampp\php\php.ini).
